Installing the Site.Pro extension

The Site.Pro website builder is available as an add-on for the Cloud VPS plans and it can be ordered either at the initial purchase of the server or later on via the customer control panel. The full service description and more details about the features included with each plan can be found on our product page.

Site.Pro is only supported on the latest Plesk Editions. In case you have an older license type and you’d like to enable the service please contact our Sales team for advice on how to proceed.

We’ve listed some step by step instructions below to help you add the right license to your VPS.

Ordering the license

New server

The Site.Pro license can be added to the server in the second step of the ordering process (Features). You will see Site.Pro plans down the page, after selecting the desired server name and Plesk license level. Just make sure to click on your preferred version and then head out to checkout.

Existing Server

If you already have a Layershift server you can order the Site.Pro license from inside your customer control panel:

  1. Login to https://control.layershift.com
  2. Select the correct server name from the Subscriptions drop down menu on the top side of the screen (in case you have more than one server)
  3. Navigate to Account > Upgrade Licenses
  4. Select the desired Site.Pro license (Premium or Enterprise) under the Features section (everything else can stay the same if you don’t wish to change your existing Plesk license level and add-ons)

  5. Follow the wizard to submit payment

Site.Pro Premium

Enabling the Site.Pro Extension

Please contact our 24/7 support team after purchasing the license, so they can install and activate the builder for you.

Important: When the license is activated, a user account for the Site.Pro dashboard is automatically created using the administrator email address you have in Plesk at the time the license is enabled.

Generally, the default Plesk administrator email address is root@servername.com so if you haven’t changed this after your first Plesk login, please make sure you update it to a working email address BEFORE requesting the Site.Pro license to be enabled, as it’s not possible to change this later.

Check your Plesk administrator email address is up to date:

  1. Login to your VPS via either https://yourservername:8443 or https://yourVPSIPaddress:8443
  2. My Profile > Profile & Preferences / General > Change the email address

After the extension was enabled, it will be available on all domains added to your Plesk Panel and you will then see the Site Builder icon under Websites & Domains.

Building your sites

To start creating a new website for your domain simply click the Site.Pro icon as described above. The site builder will open in a new window and you will have access to all the features included in the Premium edition.

Configuring Site Pro

For more complex builder tuning and personalization you can access the external Site.Pro dashboard which allows you to rename the plugin, add your own custom builder domain, change the origin server and much more.

The Site.Pro end user dashboard can be accessed directly from your Plesk Panel: Extensions > Site Builder > Configure license.

If you’re having trouble accessing your account you can always reset your password via the Site.Pro website. As mentioned above, the login email is your Plesk administrator email address.

Site.Pro Enterprise

The Site.Pro Enterprise license allows you to host the Site.Pro builder and all the resulting website files directly on your server. Please contact our support team after you’ve purchased your license, so we can assist you with the builder installation.

The default location used for this installation will be sitepro.yourservername.com so please specify if you’d like it to be installed on a different domain instead.

Important: When the license is activated, a user account for the Site.Pro dashboard is automatically created using the administrator email address you have in Plesk at the time the license is enabled.

Generally, the default Plesk administrator email address is root@servername.com so if you haven’t changed this after your first Plesk login please make sure you update it to a working email address BEFORE requesting the builder to be installed, as it’s not possible to change this later.

Check your Plesk administrator email address is up to date:

  1. Login to your VPS via either https://yourservername:8443 or https://yourVPSIPaddress:8443
  2. My Profile > Profile & Preferences / General > Change the email address

Configuring Site Pro

After the builder is installed on your domain you will be able to login to the Site.Pro dashboard and personalize the plugin as you like. You’ll be able to select the desired language, brand the tool by changing its name, uploading your own logo, restrict the features your clients can have access to and much more.

You can access the Site.Pro plugin configuration panel via Plesk: go to Extensions > Site Builder > click on Configure License.

  1. This is the website builder name your clients will see in browser when they open the tool. You can leave it as it is or use your own company name to brand it.
  2. Here you will need to add the name of the server where you requested the builder to be installed on
  3. The lock option prevents users from removing your logo from the websites created with the Site Builder
  4. This is what the Site.Pro extension will be called in Plesk. You can personalise it in any way you wish.

Installing the Site.Pro extension

When you are happy with how the tool looks like you will need to download an updated version of the extension, which will include the changes you made in the previous step (your own logo, branded website builder title, etc) and then import it in Plesk.

  1. Click on “Plugin installation guide” in your License management section inside Site.Pro dashboard
  2. Download the plugin from the pop-up window
  3. Remove the existing (default) plugin from Plesk: Plesk > Extensions > Find the Site.Pro extension > select it > Remove.
This steps is critical and skipping it will create inconsistencies in how the plugin will function.
  4. Upload the latest version of the plugin (the one you downloaded from the Site.Pro dashboard). This will contain all changes made earlier and allow you to load the site builder from your server directly and Activate the License.

You should now be able to access your own instance of the Site.Pro builder by going to Websites & Domains > open the webspace of any domain > Click the website builder icon to launch it.
